The beach is sandy except for approx 2 hours either side of high tide. It is a very safe swimming beach and an excellent childrens beach for crab hunting, seaweed and driftwood gathering and building sandcastles. Mussels and paua (abalone) can be gathered by seafood lovers.

The bay offers beautiful walks, some fishing, kayaking, mountain biking and of course a chance to relax in peace with a good book.
